Cells remain locked due to changing patterns and protection at same time.
Cause:
Cells remain locked after the 'Locked' check box is cleared because the protection and the pattern of the cells are changed at the same time.
Solution:
Do not change the protection and the pattern of a cell at the same time. Select 'Cells..' from the 'Format' menu to change the protection and choose 'OK' to exit the 'Format Cells' dialog box. Then, select 'Cells...' from the 'Format' menu again to change the pattern of the cell.
